Cape Air Launches Nonstop Long Island–Boston Service, Expanding Regional Connectivity

Updated Oct. 26, 2025

BOSTON — Cape Air has added new nonstop service between Boston Logan International Airport and Long Island MacArthur Airport, expanding regional connectivity and offering travelers an alternative to congested routes through New York City.

The airline launched four daily round-trip flights between the two airports in July, using its modern twin-engine Tecnam P2012 Traveller aircraft. The route marks Cape Air’s first scheduled service to Long Island MacArthur in nearly a decade, restoring a direct link that many business and leisure travelers had been requesting.

Each flight takes about 90 minutes, providing a faster and more convenient option than driving or connecting through larger New York hubs. Introductory one-way fares have started around $249, according to the airline.

“Cape Air is built on connecting communities, and this route helps bridge two regions that share strong business and family ties,” said Linda Markham, Cape Air’s president and CEO, in a statement announcing the service.

MacArthur Airport officials said the addition strengthens the airport’s role as a regional gateway and provides Long Island residents with direct access to New England. “We’re proud to welcome Cape Air back to Long Island and thrilled to give our customers a new, efficient way to reach Boston,” said Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter.

The P2012 Traveller, built in Italy and configured for nine passengers, offers a pressurized cabin, updated avionics, and modern comfort amenities uncommon in smaller commuter planes.

For Boston Logan, the route reinforces its role as a key hub for regional carriers serving New England and nearby states. Cape Air already operates from Logan to Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, and Hyannis, as well as several destinations across the Northeast and Caribbean.

The airline said early demand for the Boston–Long Island flights has been strong, with weekday business travel and weekend getaways driving steady bookings.

Cape Air, headquartered in Hyannis, Massachusetts, operates a fleet of more than 100 aircraft and serves nearly 30 destinations.
